This is a pastel painting by Laurel Dyer. She used the 2003 National Show Champions as the models for most of the goats that are seen.
About the herd...
This is the eleventh year of history for the Mi*Esperar herd, and with each year our herd has advanced both in quality and in the show ring. Mi*Esperar dairy goats are raised on a CAE prevention program. This means that kids are removed from their dams at birth and fed heat treated colostrum and pastuerized milk until they are weaned. Kids are shown as they are born. Some are shown as early as two weeks of age. The result is extremely show oriented goats who love their moment in the ring spotlight and truly enjoy their road trips.
AI has broadened our breeding horizens immensely. It has allowed us to breed to beautiful bucks that we could never breed to otherwise because of transportation restrictions. Since we do not keep bucks, we reserve the right to collect from any buck before he is sold.
Our herd is a relatively small herd, and the size will not significantly change ever. We are extremely selective in the animals that we keep for breeding stock. Each doe has a unique quality that we feel is important to retain, but all possess similarities in length of body, length of neck, fine bone, and high, wide escutions (not the least turned in hocks). Should you wish to purchase an animal or would like information on the whereabouts of outstanding Mi*Esperar bucks for service, feel free to email me (for the quickest response) or call. I hope you enjoy your visit!
A note from Amber:
I have moved to Virginia to work on my PhD in Microbiology, Immunology, and
Infectious Diseases...and I couldn't take my herd with me. BUT, my girls are still at home
in Arkansas, being tended to by my mother. However, since I'm going to be gone,
I gave my herd to my Mom, who has been working closely with me from the beginning.
This means that a new herdname is about to come about: Prima*Donna.
I expect it to continue giving does who are better than their dams, as I worked
to do during my time with it. And I'm not out of the picture, just off to the
side. The girls are still going to shows and all, but I'm not home to
oversee the venture for now.
